You love your dog. But you just can’t figure out why he’s afraid, tries to attack other dogs or snaps at people coming too close to his food bowl or favorite treat.
You’re not alone. These types of behaviors are all too common among our domesticated poochie friends. Our goal is to help your pooch behave more appropriately and give you the tools to manage these circumstances.
Common dog behavior problems include fear, aggression, resource guarding and separation anxiety. After an initial behavior evaluation at your home, Pooch Pawsitive will develop a custom behavior modification plan for you and your pooch to achieve your training goals.
Behavior Problems are best addressed with the following process:
- Behavioral evaluation
You must complete the Behaviorial Questionnaire (emailed to you when we schedule the appointment) and it must be returned to us prior to the appointment.
Then I will come to your home and review the questionnaire to complete the history and behavioral evaluation of your dog. This in-home evaluation usually takes 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Based on the evaluation, we'll determine the next steps and training plan for changing your dog's behavior.
Follow-up Sessions It’s one thing to tell you what the diagnosis is, but it’s another thing to actually implement it! Follow-up sessions are scheduled to answer any questions, provide guidance and demonstrate any exercises that you or your dog are having trouble with. Handouts and other written materials are usually provided to help you with certain skills. Follow-up sessions are also helpful in identifing progress and making and/or Day Training options are available to you.
Every dog is different. Every human guardian is different. We will work with you and your dog to incorporate the training plan into your lifestyle and time constraints. Like everything, the more committed you are to working on the problem, the better results you will have.
